The wise trees stand sleeping in the cold

Artist:  Iris Scott

Glorious, sunny, blustery winter day today.  I played Christmas music in my room and in the car.

I remarked that , at Christmas, the dead return to sing:  Frank Sinatra with "Mistletoe and Holly,"

Bing Crosby with "It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas", Nat King Cole with "Chestnuts Roasting by an Open Fire," Dean Martin with "Let it Snow",   not to mention the ancient composers and singers.

Here's a poem from William Carlos Williams:

Winter Trees

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.

Gorgeous sunset over Dilworthtown PA.
