Bearings Online, a publication from the Collegeville Institute, published my poem "Ten Thousand Garden Questions Answered" this week!
Here it is:
Brick of a book my uncle Ernie gave me
in the days when I didn’t know shade from sun.
Now I ask it plaintively:
what is that white rice which coats the bachelor’s button?
How do I keep the mice from eating the tulip bulbs?
Why can’t my lavender live through the frost?
Why does my skin make cancer in the sun?
Why did the warbler fly into the window?
How do I prevent the Sudanese from starving?
How do I keep the Syrians from dying of war?
